Week 1 – New Habits and Consistency

Greetings and welcome to my new Master Key blog. It’s only been a few days since the course started but I feel like I’ve already learned or relearned a lot! That said I also realize it’s only the beginning…but I’m already excited. The work has begun and I plan to enjoy it as I learn and grow.

One of the first things I’ve noticed is the focus on consistency in building new habits and behaviors. It feels good to focus on the mind within and what motivates us. To paraphrase Zig Ziglar, motivation may not last long but, like bathing, that’s why we recommend it daily. One of the keys here is that our motivation comes from within once we’ve figured out our Definite Major Purpose. That’s also a work in progress at this point but it’s written out and soon to undergo testing. Once it’s ready it will become my driving focus. Again I hear the word consistency in my brain.

It’s actually making me feel a little anxious as I consider why I do some of the things I do but…I also know it means I’m coming outside my comfort zone and my old blueprint is resistant to this change. Each step of the way I feel old ideas and habits pushing and pulling me in different directions. Usually they’re encouraging me back toward old, comfortable activities that haven’t helped me live the life I aspire to. New habits will take real work but I’m all in.

It’s been a struggle sometimes. Did I mention I’m very comfortable in my old habits? lol! That one made me laugh. Didn’t Einstein say the definition of insanity is continuing the same habits but expecting a different result?. This is where the consistency helps. Building new habits may be a little uncomfortable right now but I expect real momentum to develop once new ones start to take root.

Thanks to Mark J, The Fabulous Davene, their staff (Dayna Marie, Trish, Dr. Derek, and Heather) and my new Guide Justin for your help, encouragement and understanding in this process.

Thanks for the encouragement Lydia. I try to remember the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. I’ve taken that step and am ready for the rest of the journey. Mahalo!
